Vector Beta Ti 444cc DriverThey say that Necessity is the Mother Of Invention.
In May of 02 I received a letter from the USGA that proposed raising the the coefficient of restitution or COR on drivers from . 830 to .860 beginning Jan. 03 The Vector 444cc was conceived in anticipation of the bar being raised and were so long it was scary. In Aug. 02 I received a "notice to manufacturers" from the USGA that they were going to leave the COR limit at .830 Lucky for us this occurred just days before we began production on these new super heads. We now saw an opportunity to over engineer our head from a strength ratio and to use materials in the body that produced less flexion and to thicken the face from 2.5 mm to 2.7 mm (compared to say a Stiletto at 3.0 mm or a Cleveland or similar brand at 3.2 mm) This reduction in flexion of the whole head means there is less loss of energy at impact and a greater transfer of energy to the ball. The result is the most solid, longest and most forgiving driver made to date by us or anyone else. If you combine this with a shaft that offers a launch profile matched to your swing tendencies and a custom fit to a particular frequency or stiffness number based on how you load the shaft and where your release point is you will flat mop it. - David Dugally, The Golf Coast Click here for Vector 280cc & 320cc drivers
